Heartbeat Instead of White Noise: The Vampire-Style ASMR Craze

Recently, ASMR, which induces psychological stability through the sounds of rain or burning firewood, is spreading like a trend in human society. The idea is that specific sounds relax tension by inducing a sensation called 'tingle' (a pleasant, goosebump-like feeling) near the scalp or spine. However, to the species of the night, water droplets and bonfires are not very pleasant sounds. There is a different sound that we react to more directly: the rhythm of pulses and blood flow.

The most shared content in the vampire community is the 'Heartbeat Loop' track. This sound, which constantly repeats a low-frequency pulse between 60 to 75 bpm, is close to mere background noise to humans, but acts as a stability signal to those with hyper-senses. It is explained that it plays a role in slowly lowering excessively heightened senses and uniformly aligning an irregular inner rhythm.

City neon signs, electronic billboards, and endless notification sounds keenly awaken the senses. Experts analyze that such visual and auditory stimuli can increase thirst sensitivity. In fact, some metabolic clinics have started utilizing low-frequency rhythm sounds as a supplementary therapy. It is a method of recommending those experiencing a state of hyperarousal right before sleep to play a heartbeat track at a low volume.

However, the same effect does not appear for everyone. Even in human society's 2020 and 2022 studies, it was reported that ASMR showed prominent effects on improving sleep quality and reducing heart rates only in people with high sensitivity to specific senses. The same applies to vampire society. While some experience immediate relaxation, others say their senses became even sharper instead. Experts advise, "It should be approached as a supplementary stabilization tool," adding, "It is desirable to lower the volume and utilize it focusing on the sound rather than watching the screen."

Nevertheless, heartbeat ASMR is spreading rapidly. Instead of clubs, sound bars are emerging, and gatherings to share pulse rhythms are appearing in pitch-black spaces instead of neon lights. Some audio studios are showcasing dedicated mixing technologies based on 'blood flow bass'. Time spent blocking out external noise and focusing on the inner rhythm is now establishing itself as a new wellness code in vampire society.
