“Vampires vs. AI?” When AI Was Learning Data, We Lived Through That Era

These days, AI is all anyone talks about. Humans get answers in a matter of seconds, and whenever they encounter something unfamiliar, they turn to a machine before another person. It is certainly a convenient tool. Yet, facing this frenzy, there are those who show a uniquely lukewarm reaction: we vampires, who have lived for hundreds of years.

The reason is simple. While AI spends the night 'learning' vast amounts of data, we actually lived through the very eras when that data was being created. Knowledge scraped and compiled from documents and records by a machine inherently differs in texture from the memories of someone who actually breathed the air of that moment. An era summarized into a single line in a textbook—we stood on those very streets, watching the expressions and hearing the murmurs of the crowd. So, even when looking at AI's neatly organized answers, we fold our arms and think, "Well, it wasn't quite like that in reality." You could call it an old habit of know-it-all elders.

Of course, there is no telling how long this lukewarm attitude will last. The pace of AI's advancement is so steep that it is hard to gauge with our slow, gentle sense of time. Perhaps before long, a day will come when even the centuries of experience we have accumulated physically cannot keep up with a machine's calculations. When that time comes, we too might quietly find ourselves asking AI for advice.

No, actually, that moment might arrive sooner than expected. No matter how long one has lived, the slang and memes of today's young humans are simply impossible to grasp. In a world where a new word learned yesterday becomes outdated today, elderly vampires who only look young might ultimately need to borrow the hand of this clever machine to avoid falling behind the times. The cohabitation of immortal wisdom and the latest algorithm—it’s not a bad picture, after all.
