Greetings, readers of VAMPIRE NOW. As the new year begins, are you starting to feel the need for a ‘health resolution’ in your nocturnal life?
Today’s topic is the dangerous habit of attempting to replace blood supplementation with coffee.
For vampires living among humans in modern society, caffeine is a truly seductive presence. It momentarily awakens dull senses, allows us to mingle naturally with humans, and even helps maintain social decorum. The scene of sitting in a cafe with friends, laughing over an Americano—doesn’t it seem like the ideal image of a ‘modern vampire’?
However, I must warn you: the time you can buy with caffeine is strictly limited.
If you continue a lifestyle of relying on coffee while delaying blood supplementation, your heart rate may rise in the short term, giving you the illusion that your senses are returning. But in the long run, it places an excessive burden on your heart and blood vessels, eventually leading to negative systemic effects such as sensory dulling, numbness in the hands and feet, and decreased visual sensitivity.
The more significant issue is ‘nutritional imbalance due to lack of blood intake.’ Blood is the fundamental fuel for our survival. When vampires experience dehydration or nutritional deficiency, our recovery rate is significantly slower than that of humans. This goes beyond simple fatigue, leading to slower nerve response, loss of skin elasticity, fang (dental) pain, and a decline in psychological focus. Caffeine may temporarily mask these problems, but it can never be a fundamental solution.
Why, then, do we keep seeking caffeine? Perhaps it is because it allows us to stay alert without standing out in human society, serving as a medium for natural social activity. A cup of coffee in hand can feel like a badge of ‘modern adaptability.’
But remember: coffee is merely a supplement; blood intake is the basis. While it is possible to get through a single day with a temporary fix, the only way to protect your sharp senses and health for centuries to come is through regular blood intake and a balanced lifestyle.
In the next column, we will take a closer look at real-life cases of vampires showing ‘blood refusal’ tendencies and the recovery routines to overcome them.
I look forward to sharing more wisdom to protect your health.
