Straw culture reduces fang activity and accelerates atrophy.

Are Your Fangs Okay? — The Slow Atrophy of the Vampire’s Greatest Symbol

Does cold blood sting your fang tips in the morning? Do they look slightly duller in the mirror than a century ago? If yes — degeneration may already be underway.

Fangs were once weapons — hardened like diamond, supported by dense gum tissue to pierce hide and hunt. But modern vampires shop blood packs at convenience stores, sometimes drinking them gracefully through straws. This straw culture is eroding the very teeth that defined us.

Unused organs shrink. It’s called disuse atrophy. Without biting or tearing, fang density lowers, periodontal ligaments loosen, and sensitivity rises — hence the recent wave of “cold wind tooth pain” complaints.

Worse, cosmetic trends accelerate damage. To blend into human society or appear gentle, some undergo dental smoothing to file their fangs down. This strips protective enamel and exposes nerves, dulling even sensory abilities unique to vampirism.

To preserve fang health, habits must change. First — chew. Use vampire gum or jerky-style blood snacks to stimulate the periodontal tissues.

Second — supplement calcium and magnesium. Processed blood lacks minerals essential for tooth density.

Third — reduce stress and stop clenching. Micro-cracks form when vampires grind subconsciously during coffin rest. Meditation or nighttime mouthguards help.

Fangs are not decorative. They are lineage, identity, survival. Protect them — not for aesthetic fear, but for the centuries ahead.
